Why do we love where we live? To answer this question, the Town of Stevensville has kicked off the Love My Town campaign. Highlighting the meaningful bonds between Stevensville and our residents, with the help of the National League of Cities we have organized the work into four key pillars.
We want to create a more informed, inclusive community. The answer is simple: citizen service. When residents are more active in public life, they develop a stronger sense of community trust. And today, trust is more important than ever, especially when it comes to the 2020 Census.
From infants to millennials to baby boomers, each generation has different needs and experiences. Creating a vibrant town means empowering residents at every stage of life. As a result, we want to uncover what it means to provide services to all.
Once drivers of a strong American economy, legacy cities have become the face of disappearing factories, vacant buildings and shrinking populations. Now, these once-vibrant communities must re-imagine themselves for 2019 and beyond. We want to bring together a dynamic group of leaders whose commitment to their town is unmatched.
It’s hard to love your town if you’re concerned about the basics—like a roof over your head. For too many Americans, affordable housing is out of reach. To address this critical issue, NLC created national housing task force. That task force has now created a set of best practices for the local level, as well as policy recommendations to federal and state governments.
